Sorry I've been quiet lately I have been swamped with cakes! I also seem to be getting a lot of "Where do you get your pink foil paper cases on your breast cancer cupcake page?" requests. Well I am based in Australia but the cake decorating supply shop that I use has said that they could ship to the UK or USA if you need them to. Ok I need to tell you that I have just added this little girls 6th birthday cake to my birthday cake ideas page. Recently I had an email from a very grateful reader thanking me for my chocolate cake recipe that is egg free. He wanted to know why it was egg free, whether it was because I had an allergy. I am really pleased with this pretty pink poodle birthday cake I have just finished. It was made for a little 4 year old girl that just had to have a pink poodle cake this year! I have also just added the most amazing magic hat birthday cake. I worked with the childrens mother on the design matching the 3D birthday party invitations she had gone to so much trouble to make. Time to have a mini celebration! In response to my Inspired By Michelle Cake Designs needing a new business card and advertising my sister who just happens to be a freelance graphic designer came up with the most fantastic designs. She really put what was in my imagination into reality for me. I now have cards and flyers that represent and showcase the quality of my cakes. She then put together a file that I could use to improve my header and nav bar background utilising the same look. I then changed my nav buttons and other details to blue. I think the whole look is lighter and fresher than my original look. It still combines my favourite combination of browns and blues but in a much nicer way. So it is a big THANK YOU to my sister. I think the design of my site and my photos must drive her and my brother who is also a graphic designer crazy. I just concentrate on the content and try and tell the story the best I can. So I have also bought myself a light tent so that the photographs of my cakes and chocolate recipes should improve - well that is the theory!!!! I hope you like the new look. Bye for now, Michelle

Alice in Wonderland Birthday Cake

I have just finished an Alice in Wonderland Birthday Cake. It has the birthday girl dressed in her party dress and shoes that she will be wearing on her birthday peering down wondering what the white rabbit is up to. The cake is a double height mad hatter cake decorated with beautiful flowers and the queen of hearts castle. Finding birthday cake ideas for men can be a little difficult sometimes. I have just added two ideas to my birthday cake page. The first is a bulldogs team jersey idea and the second a hammer which was made for a suprise 60th birthday party which is taking place as I write this blog! This elmo birthday cake is one of the new cakes I have added to my birthday cake photo gallery. I had so much fun making this birthday cake and it was so big I really had trouble carrying it! Most elmo cakes are made by decorating with frosting but with this one I sculpted the cake and covered it in fondant. Even the eyes and nose are chocolate cake. I have also added a black and white dragonfly cake which I made for my sisters birthday. The third cake was designed for a singer and included the music score of her favourite song. Two new designs for this week. Mad hatter or topsy turvy cakes are very popular. To celebrate my best friends birthday I used the base of one and decorated it with butterflies which she is mad about. Shimmered fondant balls and inital added sparkle to the cake. The other cake I made this week was a corset cake designed to match the handmade invitations for a 40th birthday.
