The theme for this colourful 3rd birthday cake was Dora the Explorer.

Also included were Dora's backpack, Boots and Swiper.

This was really fun to make. I included little presents in the theme as it was a birthday cake.

Children love colour - you can see this cake in much larger pictures on my blog on this page

This month it was actually hard to decide which cake to pick as my favourite.

I chose this champange celebration cake design purely because i think it could be used for so many occasions.

This time it was to celebrate a 40th birthday but it could be birthday, anniversary, engagement, graduations, buying your first house ...

Till september have a great month, Michelle

my favourite cake July 2010 Hi-5 cake Inspired by Michelle Cake Designs

It was not hard to choose this months favourite cake.

I was thrilled to be asked by the Hi-5 crew to make their 500th episode celebration cake.

They were even nice enough to send this picture and include it on their Hi-5 site news.

You can see a larger image of the cake here.

OK I have to admit I am being bias again because this months favourite cake is my other adorable nephew Japsers's 6th birthday cake.

It is actually a yellow lego block which Jasper is a master at constructing and the cheeky monkey from his birthday card.

I am just about to put a collage of this cake on my blog so you can see it in greater detail.

I love pink and black together it is always a winning combination.

This pregnant belly baby shower cake is not too over the top and finished in a pretty dress with black and pink blossom details on the neckline and hem.

I got a lovely thank you letter saying the cake was a success!

My favourite cake - March 2010

This month's favourite cake is a tiffany blue cake which is one of my favourtite colours.

This was for a 50th birthday celebration. The top has some of my handmade peony roses with gorgeous gold centers.

If you would like to see this design in more detail i have made a collage of images and posted it on my Inspired By Michelle blog which is slowly becoming filled with cake ideas.

This month's favourite cake is a Gucci handbag, sitting atop a gucci box wrapped with ribbon.

It was for a 21st birthday celebration.

Both the tiers are cakes. Whe you choose a design with more than one tier each tier can be a different flavour if you wish.

I loved making this 1st birthday cake, the design was created purely from the birthday invitation.

One of the first things I ask when people are stuck for design ideas is, "do you have an invitation for the celebration?" They are a great source for colour and detail.

When you have a cake topper made out of fondant as the feature of your design if you lift it off carefully you keep it as a memory of the occasion - although I can not promise that they will always come off in on piece!
